MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of Alcott High School for the Humanities (AHSH) is to meet the demand for expanded options for 9th through 12th grade students by providing a dynamic small school focused on closely monitored progress and a rigorous curriculum based in the Humanities practices of disciplinary expertise, strong knowledge, inquiry and communication. Emphasizing solid mentoring towards college and postsecondary success, AHSH will nurture a student body capable of critical thinking, active citizenship and private contemplation.

SUBSTITUTES
Qualified and dedicated substitutes are always appreciated at Alcott High School for the Humanities. A pool of substitute applicants will be formed for the purpose of being ready for the unexpected. If you have a substitute certificate (Type 39), have registered with Chicago Public Schools (CPS) and are willing to substitute for Alcott High School for the Humanities on short notice, apply today. Simply follow the same instructions for applying, but make certain to indicate in your cover letter your desire to substitute on occasion.
Requirements:

Fully understand English and another language (preferably Spanish or
Chinese)
•
Ability to carry on the content teacher’s plans during an absence
•
Strong (yet positive) classroom discipline background
•
Type 39 (Substitute Certificate)
•
Bachelor degree required, masters degree preferred

COACHES
Alcott High School for the Humanities is currently fielding applications for potential coaching positions. At Alcott HS, the inaugural freshman class will decide exactly sports will be offered based on collective interest, but now is a great time to share your coaching talents and interest with us. Simply follow the same instructions for applying, but make certain to indicate your cover letter your desire to coach a particular sport.
